Review

‘The Silk Pavilion’ was a claustrophobic read that made my hair stand on end at times! The whole way through it I was shouting in my head at Lucy and what she was getting herself into. I could feel myself getting angrier and angrier as I carried on reading. It is reactions like these though shows a great standard of writing, which in this case was beautifully descriptive and transferred you into their world with ease! This was my first book my Sarah Walton but it won't be my last!

I HATED Miguel’s character and I don't think he had any redeeming features at all which I'm guessing is the point of this story! It is truly a story of how abuse and manipulation taking place during childhood can reverberate through the ages and affect how you will accept certain types of relationships later in life. Unless, you unpack the trauma you don't evolve and move on. It really was a powerful narrative on this topic alone but mix with the historic Spanish civil war and it lifted it above the normal.

I will warn you that some of the sexual scenes were quite in your face at times - literally!

Let me know if you read this one.
